HEAV Convention is coming up NEXT WEEK! Who’s excited?? And who are you excited to see?

Us, we’re excited to meet and check out the Veritas Press booth!

I’ve been researching many different options for my 7th grader next year, and we’ve pretty much settled on Veritas Press’ Self-Paced, online Omnibus 1 program for next year. She wants less of “mom teaching” and more independence. I want a strong, structured program that is engaging and challenging, that she will learn with a solid foundation all at the same time! Hopefully, this will be exactly what we are both looking for.

Veritas Press is based on a Classical Education method, which is new to us personally, but my husband and I always like the idea of – though I was intimidated by “mom work” of many of the classical-based programs I saw when we began. That is one of the reasons I am very pleased with all that I’ve learned about the self-paced Omnibus Program. Especially great for me – it does all the grading for you!

The Omnibus 1 program is broken down into two parts, the Primary and Secondary. Both are created to be done together, at the same time. However, I’ve heard from many parents online that for a first-timer, this might be too much. So, one option suggested to me was to begin with the Secondary (which is considered more optional/extra by Veritas Press) and then add in the Primary program later on. There is also a lot of reading with this program and it’s not always easy reading, so if your student doesn’t enjoy reading, then this might not be completely for you. Even my oldest, who is a voracious reader, isn’t exactly enthused by some of the choices (R.C. Sproul is one of the authors we starting with) because it’s not straight-up action-fiction. The complete Omnibus program all together covers biblical history (they call it Bible), history and literature. The online self-paced program doesn’t included a “written” component so much

In good news, I learned that the Omnibus 1 Textbook isn’t completely neccessary for the online program because any readying from that is included for download! So, unless you find the textbook cheaply somewhere you can skip that expense! Luckily, I found someone local who wanted to get rid of it for a great price!

If you aren’t concerned with the actual grading, you can call the corporate office and have them “unlock” the course, turning it into more of an audit. No grading would be done, and would allow you to move around the course at-will.

Cathy Duffy Review of the Omnibus 1 Program

From a religious perspective, Veritas follows a Reformed Protestant theology, and Biblical perspectives are referenced throughout. In the clips I watched beforehand, I found none of it to be overhanded. Their statement of faith can be found on pages 11-13 of their Terms and Conditions.

Be sure to go check out the Veritas Press Booth in the Exhibit Hall at HEAV!

HEAV Convention is coming up NEXT WEEK! Who’s excited?? And who are you excited to see?

One of the exhibitors I’ve very curious to meet is the Berard Auditory Integration Training Systems.

As many of you readers know, our youngest has Sensory Processing Disorder, and we have gone through many extensive Occupational Therapies with her. Some of that therapy was to focus on her extreme auditory sensitivity, and some of the programs we did look similiar to this.

1

Their site talks more about their “In Home” program:

BERARD AIT HOME PROGRAMS

Supervised In-Home Berard AIT Programs are provided, as appropriate. The Home Program is individualized for each person based upon a review of all of the following:

    • the applicant’s AIT Evaluation Form
    • Telephone evaluation(s)
    • A local audiologist’s report

home_program

Following our review of the applicant’s AIT Evaluation Form and the audiologist’s report, we will schedule a phone appointment to complete the evaluation and give our recommendations as to whether the person in question is a good candidate for AIT. We can also make other recommendations, as appropriate.

If AIT is appropriate, we can usually accommodate the In-Home Program fairly quickly. You will need a CD player; we supply the rest of the equipment. The AIT is 20 sessions, 1/2 hour each. The recommended program sequence is twice per day for 10 days. Re-assessments are included.

I’m very excited to see this group at the 2018 HEAV Convention, so be sure to go meet them in the Exhibit Hall!

Our Updated Homeschool Mission Statement

Convention, Curriculum, Family, Girls, HEAV, Homeschool, Mission Statement

Since I discussed Creating a Homeschool Mission Statement during my Preparing for Convention series, I thought I’d actually share with you what Hubby and I have decided on. This has been reviewed and updated for this year. (And is based on “Defining Your Homeschool Mission: It’s More Than Your Why“) It still serves us pretty well, but we refined it a bit. This has been slightly revised since an older post.

Our Homeschool Mission Statement

Our Goal

That our children become well-rounded, well-educated, interested individuals – who have the ability to investigate their own interests and be productive, independent, discerning, successful adults (however success is defined by them). We want our children to have strong Christian hearts and spiritual knowledge, as well emotionally and spiritually healthy.

“Our mission isn’t simply to pursue knowledge, but to pursue God’s wisdom and prepare our children to become God’s effective servants. We want our daughters to grow confident in Christ and the unique role that God created them to fulfill for His greater glory.” (quote that I loved enough to steal to use for ourselves.)

Verses That We Base Our Homeschool Plans On

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. — Proverbs 22:6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. — Proverbs 3:5-6

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? — Mark 8:36

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates. — Deuteronomy 6:4-9

What Are Our Non-Negotiables?

  • They must be challenged and be on a “college-ready” path, whether they go or not.
  • College itself is flexible, advanced training or education of some sort is not.

How Do We Evaluate Our Efforts and Results?

  • Their joy in learning. Learning can and should be fun, and more is retained when they enjoy what they are doing.
  • Their curiosity and desire. Education should serve as a vehicle to whet their appetite for more knowledge, and give them the vehicle to further that knowledge.
  • Successfully learning, retaining lessons. Not regurgitating information but truly understanding it.
  • Personal relationship with and love for Christ. Deepening knowledge and understanding of the Bible, exploration of applying that understanding to their own lives, and sharing that love with others.

What We Look For in Curriculum

  • Christian-based education.
  • Family-based curriculum and learning together as much as possible.
  • Encouraging independence in learning as they mature, though learning together when possible.
  • Should encourage the love and joy of learning, delight-directed learning whenever possible. Not on “teaching to the test,” or Common Core Standards.
  • Flexibility of time and curriculum and interests.
  • Ease of program on teacher. Minimal preparation needed. No personal need to reinvent the wheel.
  • Spending time with girls and as a family.

Have you created a Family Mission Statement, or  a Homeschool Mission Statement/Plan? I’d love for you to share it with us if you have!

How to Get the Most out of HEAV Convention 2018, Part 3!

This post has been revised from previous years, here and here.

Today I’d like to share with you my own preparation steps to get the most out of HEAV’s Convention!

Step 1: Register!

If you haven’t already, STOP RIGHT NOW AND REGISTER. RIGHT NOW!

And then, BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOM IF NEEDED. DO IT TODAY!

Step 2: Organize!

To begin, do you want to participate in the Used Curriculum Sale? Right now is the time to sign up and get ready! Start pulling all of your “old stuff” together for the sale, and get it priced. Because we missed last year, the mountain of books I need to sell have reached EPIC proportions! Be sure to read my earlier article about getting ready for the Used Curriculum Sale as well!

Step 3: Evaluate!

Now that the old is gone, evaluate what is left. Have you pre-bought/pre-collected items for next year? Get them together and see where the holes are. Any missing gaps? Make sure you make a note of it. Have you made your decisions for your curriculum for next year? Where are your continued question marks? Any wish lists?

To add to that list: any questions that you really wish you can ask for help on? Each year there are “Curriculum Doctors” and they are the absolute sweetest ladies on the planet. So calm and so reassuring to this new homeschooling mama, AND they always have such great ideas for me!

Step 4: Consolidate!

This is just a simple note to say that now is a good time to get all of this wonderful pondering and prepping organized in one place. In some sort of fashion that would make it easy to carry around the convention hall.

Because you know you’re going to forget something and just want to give yourself a good head-slap. Or you get home and realize you bought things you don’t end up needing. Like a particular book on my bookshelf that I have bought THREE TIMES. Because every time I see it I buy it, forgetting that I’ve done that twice already! Or, ya know, you already have six-zillion different science experiment idea books on your shelf, you really don’t need the five more you impulse-bought at the exhibition hall. Ya know. Or, the REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION about math curriculum that you only remembered to ask the last two hours of the convention, so you have to race around looking for that particular person who is the perfect person to ask, that you already had the half-hour conversation with the day before? Ya know, that sort of thing. Not that I’m talking from experience, of course. Not at all!

Step 5: Define Your Situation for Next Year

Before I make any decisions, I find it very helpful to look ahead and make a note of any particular “situations” I already know are coming up in the next year. (Perhaps for you it might be a new baby, transition, or already scheduled trips in the works.) I think it is very helpful to keep these in mind as you plan for the upcoming year.

Next year, we will be covering 5th Grade and 7th Grade ages in our homeschool. The girls have been working mostly independently this year, and they are really enjoying Mom not being involved. They want to be more independent, and I get to focus on heart-and-character building. So we will look to continue that trend next year.

Step 6: What Worked This Year? What Stays?

I’m a huge fan of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and with that in mind, there are several things I want to keep on doing next year. These decisions are made after chats with both kids, both together and individually, and also with the hubby.

MATH — We’ll be sticking with Teaching Textbooks for our core math.

CONVENTION PLAN– I won’t need to worry about purchasing anything for math!

GRAMMAR AND WRITING — This past year we’ve been using Apologia’s Readers in Residence 1 and Writers in Residence 1 programs. Unfortunately, doing both at the same time was too much for my girls, so after a month or two, we began to alternate weeks of each book. So, we will finish up both of the programs (eventually!) and then continue with Writers in Residence 2 next year!

CONVENTION PLAN– I already have what we need! No need to purchase anything new!

AMERICAN HERITAGE GIRLS — American Heritage Girls has become a “required” part of our homeschool curriculum. This past year we focused on participation, character, and service. We will be continuing again next year.

SCIENCE — We tried Apologia Science this year, and my girls LOVED it. I was shocked! But yes, after years of trying to wing different programs, and be more creative with science, they enjoyed working their way through a book/workbook program. We used Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics, and Exploring Creation with Zoology 3: Land Animals this year. Again, my girls LOVED this. And oh, I HIGHLY recommend buying the experiment kits that match each book. Everything was labeled, organized, and ready to go! Made my life SOOOOOOOO much easier. Did I mention how happy we were with science this year?

CONVENTION PLAN — We are already planning to use Apologia Science again next year. My youngest has requested Exploring Creation with Astronomy, and my oldest will begin General Science. (psssst. Apologia is coming out with a BRAND NEW Health and Nutrition course this year! It’s so new, it’s not even on the website yet!!! I’m super excited by it, we might just change to that, once I’ve been able to review it!)

HISTORY — This year we jumped back into a history rotation, after several years off. Because my girls love lapbooks, and loved the Elections Lapbook we did, we decided to use Homeschool in the Woods products. I wanted to use My Father’s World this year, but the girls weren’t having it. So instead, I based our work on the typical outline of My Father’s World and collated various lapbook products from Homeschool in the Woods to use.

CONVENTION PLAN — We have gone VERY SLOWLY through our history lessons, so we have more than enough already purchased to last us a very long time!

STEP 7: — What Didn’t Work? What Needs to Change? What Needs to Go?

What worked for us this year?

Honestly? Anything I didn’t participate in.

I think my girls were sick of me this past year, and ready to more in charge of their homeschool experience. They LOVED the homeschool classses program (like a Co-Op) we tried this year on a whim, and we’ll continue with that. Basically, they learned better when it wasn’t coming from MOM. So I want to honor that as much as I can, and continue down the independent learner path as much as we can. We might continue with our same curriculum we have set above, but we are also considering starting my oldest, who will be in 7th grade next year, on Veritas’ self-paced online Omnibus 1 program next year. That will be a BIG leap of faith for us, in addition to increase of intensity of education for her. So, we’re still waying the pros/cons of that.

That will leave me to focus on the heart this year, and this is most likely what I will be researching at HEAV the most this year. I’m hoping to really find a strong Bible devotional program that focuses as much on life application as Bible knowledge.

What step above are you on? So, what does YOUR plan look like?

A Couple of Months Into Our Homeschoool Year – Time for Re-evaluation!

We are now about 2 months into our new homeschool year, and I am already needing to re-evaluate our plan!

By and large, I think our overall schedule was a good idea. The curriculum choices we made were good ones, but I think I grossly under-estimated how much time things would take. Also, my work hours have picked up quite a bit, and that has cut into my time to participate in some of the hands-on work I wanted to do with the girls.

We also started going to a weekly homeschool program – which works like a Co-Op but brings in professionals from the area to be the teachers of the classes (meaning I don’t have to volunteer!). So far, the girls have enjoyed the first session, so we are going to continue with it this fall. I’ve been making my girls do the optional “homework” sent home by these teachers, so that takes up time as well.

And then you add in OT appointments, AHG, AWANA, and the general laundry and occasional grocery shopping, and well, there just aren’t enough hours in a day! (Not to mention all of the prep for our recent travel as well!)

So, my plan for today is to rearrange our “planner spreadsheet” and stretching out our assignments into hopefully a more manageable schedule.

How are you doing? Have you re-evaluated your homeschool plan already? What are you changing or not?

Getting Ready for 2017-2018 Homeschool Year!

Yes, the school year has finally arrived! Where did our summer go?

Well, I’m not sure about you, but our summer was decimated by our move. Starting early June, we dealt with combining two houses into one (turning our furnished rental property into an unfurnished rental property) and then purging, unpacking and then purging more. And then more. And even more. Truly. After all I purged before our move, we still looked like hoarders when trying to squeeze everything into this 1200 square feet townhouse. We must be ruthlessly organized to survive in this space. It’s honestly been pretty painful dealing with all that. I can say now that there is not one area of our lives and not one box that we did not cut in at least half. I still really like the place we are renting though. Great landlord, with a good, functional layout, AND he completely renovated it before we moved in.

In the midst of dealing with all of that, I began to organize for this homeschool year. Thankfully I had purchased most of it before our move, but I did have to pick up some odds and ends that were forgotten.

Today, I thought I’d share with you our curriculum plan. Our girls are now 11 and 9, entering “6th” and “4th.”

Because I am continuing to work and homeschool, we have to rely on independent-type homeschool work, so they can complete the bulk of their work while I’m on the phone with clients.

Math– We are sticking with Teaching Textbooks. Our oldest is in the middle of Level 6, our youngest will start Level 5.

Spelling– I’ve let my oldest out of doing formal Spelling now, though I did tell her I would start marking all spelling mistakes in her work as wrong. My youngest will continue with SpellingCity.com, using Abeka spelling lists.

Writing, Reading/Literature– Our girls are voracious readers now, so that’s not a problem for us. However, we’ve never done a formal reading comprehension program. I found the Apologia Readers in Residence program that we are going to try this year. We are also trying their Writers in Residence program this year as well. We will do this four days a week.

wp-image--780375707

I got these great books from Amazon, for my oldest. I want to work on her reasoning and logic skills, since she’s entering middle school age. We will do one short lesson a day, four days a week.

wp-image-850068304

I thought it important to move to a more formal science program this year. Neither of my girls could agree on what to study, so we’re letting them each study what they want. So my oldest will be doing Apologia’s Zoology 3 (land animals), and my youngest will be doing Apologia’s elementary Chemistry. We purchased the books and workbooks from Apologia during a big sale. Even better, I found kits with everything you need for the experiments of each. Everything is in in a box, organized in bags by lesson, and labeled. It feels completely magical. Do you know how much I love having things done for me????

Anyway, I will be helping them get through the book work portion, and Hubby will help them with the experiments twice a week.

The books list this as two times a week, but as much as is listed, the work might have to stretch over four days.

wp-image-1593769722

I found these cute devotional books for the girls to use for their devotional time this year. I saw the “Big Book of Animal Devotions” at a used curriculum sale, and thought it it would be perfect for my oldest who is studying zoology this year. While unpacking, I found the second devotional (which we have never used) and my youngest decided to use this year.

Our main focus/theme for this year will be going back to history. While I personally LOVE My Father’s World and their program, my daughters don’t. I’ve been informed that it’s “babyish.” I don’t agree, by the way, but we used it for K-2nd, so maybe that’s why they think that.

Last year, we used a lapbook from Home School in the Woods elections, which my girls loved. I think it spoke to their crafty side. They wanted to do that again. So, I have cobbled together several products from Home School in the Woods, to replicate MFW’s Creation to the Greeks program.

This year, we will be using their Timeline, the Old Testament Activity Pack, and their Project Passports for Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece.

So, to go along with that, I have started collecting books to go along with these themes. I purchased a few at a used curriculum sale, and many if not most of the resources we need will be coming from local libraries. I’ve also been using Paperbackswap.com to fill in books I couldn’t find in the libraries.

Our “Egypt” theme books:

Our main history overview books:

Just beginning our Greek theme books:

So, that is our “school plan” for the year! This does not include all of our other activities, which I will cover in another post!

HEAV Convention Wish List Tip!!

Flyer2016-Front-1000x412

This post is a repeat with minor changes from last year.

You know that list of random, “Oh, wouldn’t it be nice if I could find ______ at Convention?”

Or while you’re there: “Hmm, I wonder if I should buy this here, order it when I get home, or if my local library has it?”

Let me tell you my new brilliant solution for this: Amazon Wish Lists!!

When I see a blog post (or Pinterest – my newest addition) with lists of books I think would be great for us, or something I think would be useful next year, I send it to my awesome hubby.

He then logs into our local library’s site and searches to see if they have it, or if we can get it through inter-library loan.

He then saves it to one of our Amazon Wish List, so I can find it later. We have several lists we update constantly:

  • “Books for Homeschool” – My running list of books, etc. the library doesn’t carry, but I wish we had.
  • “Gift List Ideas for the Girls” – Also great when grandparents ask me – I don’t have to come up with the ideas off the top of my head, but just have to review the list I’ve been keeping.
  • “Homeschool books at the library” – This is the list I know NOT to buy because I can get it free by checking it out when we need it!

AmazonI also plan to take pictures of my girls’ bookshelves before we go – just to attempt to not duplicate books we already own. We honestly have so many books there is no way I could ever keep up with what’s here.

I really think this is going to make trying to figure out what to buy at Convention so much easier this year! Plus, it’s easily accessible from my phone – as long as I keep it charged up! No more carrying around too full notebooks!

**PS. I do want to make it clear that I still advocate purchasing from our amazing vendors at HEAV’s Exhibit Hall! Whenever possible, I do try to purchase there at HEAV or from one of our HEAV vendors. I just really like the portability of having this list right on my phone!**

Sign up for my HEAV Convention Pass Giveaway!! HEAV’s convention is June 9-11th this year!

HEAV’s Used Curriculum Sale

Convention, Curriculum, HEAV, Homeschool

Flyer2016-Front-1000x412This post is a repeat with minor changes from last year.

Have you ever attended HEAV’s Used Curriculum Sale? If not, you are in for quite an experience!

The Used Curriculum Sale is great for shopping and finding great deals, but even more, it can be a great way to get rid of your own used materials!

Last year was my first experience with the HEAV Used Curriculum Sale, so I hit up one of my good friends, HEAV blogger Kyndra of Homeschooler on the Edge, for advice!

TIPS FOR THE USED CURRICULUM SALE:

1.Start now! If you’ve been letting those piles of “old curriculum” build up, it’s time to start getting organized! I keep a bin in the basement where I’ve been storing items as we get done with them. When we finish with a book, I have one of the kids run it down and put it in the bin right then.

And puh-lease, keep on top of everything from here on out! Because of craziness in past years, I put off dealing with clearing out used items, and then last year’s “one bin” morphed into more than three full bins!

???????????????????????????????

This year’s piles really aren’t going to look much better, I’m afraid!

Because I have so much to deal with, I’m going to start with some local group curriculum sales, which will hopefully slim this down to a more manageable amount. I’m not so sure it will all fit into my car for the drive down!

Kyndra, my resident Used-Curriculum-Sale-extraordinaire, gave me these tips:

2. She suggests that you sort and enter your items into the UCS system one box at a time, and be sure to put the books back in your box in order, which will make putting on labels later much easier.

The barcoding system will be open in March, so you can even get started sorting now, and get this out of the way!

And print your labels with a good quality printer!!

3. You are going to want to start early! If you have a whole bunch of stuff, it will drive you crazy.

4. READ THE INFORMATION ON HEAV’S WEBSITE THOROUGHLY! Make sure you read all the details and about the self-addressed envelope!

5. My biggest stressor is always pricing. How do figure out what is a fair rate? Kyndra suggested that searching the Internet (such as Amazon) for fair market value, and then price between 50-75% of that price – depending on the shape your item is in.

By the way, there is a different Friday price and Saturday price! So if it is an item that you absolutely don’t want to take home, or are planning to donate it anyway, then consider pricing it even cheaper for the Saturday rate.

6. Plan on being there for a while! (Which I can definitely attest to! Last year I went by, “just to see what’s there,” and ended up emerging three hours later!) If it’s possible to bring a buddy, it can be helpful, because they can help you look or watch your stuff while you continue to shop!

Once you’re in the room, HEAV has a fabulous organizational system, and the line to pay goes pretty quickly.

7. How can you get the best deals?? By VOLUNTEERING of course! When you register, you will get a golden ticket that will let you get in early!!!

?

Trust me, you want to get in early! The deals are amazing!!

?

These were the early ticket holders with me in line last year!

HEAV is great about helping you find the best volunteer opportunity for you, even if you have any physical issues. Working the UCS though, does involve some physical labor. (Dads, this is a great way YOU can support your homeschool family and help the score the good deals! They are always looking for manual labor!!

So, what are your success tips for the Used Curriculum Sale?

“I am excited to be a blogger for HEAV this year. In exchange for sharing my honest opinion about this convention, I was provided with a family registration at no charge.”

HEAV Giveaway – The Used Curriculum Sale

Have you ever attended HEAV’s Used Curriculum Sale? If not, you are in for quite an experience!

The Used Curriculum Sale is great for shopping and finding great deals, but even more, it can be a great way to get rid of your own used materials!

I’ve never sold items at the HEAV Used Curriculum Sale before, so I hit up one of my good friends, HEAV blogger Kyndra of Homeschooler on the Edge, for advice!

Last year, because of our move, I put off dealing with clearing out used items, and then, when you add the fact that we changed our entire curriculum plan midway through the year — that one bin has turned into more than three full bins!

???????????????????????????????Because I have so much to deal with, I’m going to start with some local group curriculum sales, which will hopefully slim this down to a more manageable amount. I’m not so sure it will all fit into my car for the drive down!

Kyndra, my resident Used-Curriculum-Sale-extraordinaire, gave me these tips:

Our Homeschool Mission Statement

Curriculum, Family, Girls, Homeschool, Mission Statement

Since I discussed Creating a Homeschool Mission Statement during my Preparing for Convention series, I thought I’d actually share with you what Hubby and I have decided on. This has been reviewed and updated for this year. (And is based on “Defining Your Homeschool Mission: It’s More Than Your Why“) It still serves us pretty well, but we refined it a bit.

Our Homeschool Mission Statement

Our Goal

That our children become well-rounded, well-educated, interested individuals – who have the ability to investigate their own interests and be productive, independent, successful adults (however success is defined by them).

  • Family based curriculum and learning together as much as possible.
  • Focused education decisions for each child. Dividing topics that are age appropriate, changing curriculum for each when necessary.
  • Should encourage the love and joy of learning, not on “teaching to the test,” or “Common Core Standards.”

The Proverbs 31 Woman (nasb)

Description of a Worthy Woman

An excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far above jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
She looks for wool and flax
And works with her hands in delight.
She is like merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
She rises also while it is still night
And gives food to her household
And portions to her maidens.
She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.
She senses that her gain is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hands grasp the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She makes coverings for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
"Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all."
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.
